Things to Do, Bike Rentals & Restaurants

Ready to check out East Coast Park? From the beach to the fab Marine Cove playground, water sports, bike rentals and restaurants galore, there’s something for everyone

If you live in the East, tell us… How does it feel to be the universe’s favourite and get to live by a 15-kilometre stretch of beaches? Also, can we move in with you? Sorry to any other non-East city-dwellers but we can’t dispute that East side really is the best side, and it’s largely thanks to East Coast Park!

Covid-19 advisory: Since we moved to Phase 2, East Coast Park has been known to get pretty crowded on weekends and public holidays. Make sure you check the crowd volume via the NParks Safe Distancing Portal before you go!

Here’s what to know about East Coast Park if you’re planning a visit with kids:

How to Get to East Coast Park

Drive: If you drive, it’s fairly easy to get to East Coast Park which is accessible via the East Coast Parkway (ECP) and East Coast Service Road. The park stretches over 15 kilometres from Mountbatten to Bedok and encompasses multiple highway exits, so do be sure to know where you’re heading and try to figure out the nearest carpark (there are about 10 in total!).

Taxi: There are plenty of carparks along the park where you can be dropped off. Decide which part of the park you’d like to visit and it should be relatively easy to find a nearby drop-off on the map.

Public transport (nearest bus stops): 92289 (Marine Cove), 92191 (Opp CP C3), 92199 (Aft CP C4), 93181 (Opp CP C4), 93189 (Opp Victoria JC), 93179 (Island Resort S’pore), 93171 (Opp Island Resort S’pore), 93169 (Bef CP D5), 93161 (Bef CP E1), 93159 (Cable Ski Pk), 93151 (Opp Cable Ski Park), 92251 (Opp Parkland Green), 92261 (Opp Playground @ Big Splash), 91101 (Tg Katong Flyover), 91111 (CP B1)

There’s currently no easy MRT access to East Coast Park, but that will change in 2023 when the new Thomson-East Coast line opens!

Beach

At such a large park you’re bound to find a nice spot on the beach for a picnic! There’s lots of space for fun sandcastle making, and the water is generally safe for water play and swimming along the shore.

Marine Cove Playground
1000 East Coast Parkway (near Still Road & Carpark C3)

The massive (like, 3,500m2 massive!) Marine Cove playground at East Coast Park is so big that it’s zoned into two separate areas for littles (aged 2-5) and bigger kids (5-12). Check out our comprehensive review of the playground when it first opened in 2016 here! Mama tip: make sure you go there early mornings or late afternoons as this playground is not covered. Also a heads up – it’s right next to McDonald’s so you may get a request for some french fries or a hot fudge sundae after all that play…

Cycling & Bike Rental

ECP is perfect for cycling, but the highlight has to be the5.4-hectare Cyclist Park which is super fun for all bicycle skill levels — from little ones with training wheels all the way up to cycling pros. In addition to the cool and challenging new cycling paths, the Cyclist Park also features a lovely nature playgarden complete with mini obstacle course— perfect for keeping little ones occupied even if they’re too small to ride a bike.

Read our full review of the ECP Cyclist Park here!

Many of the shops listed above also provide rollerblade rentals; you can also check out Inline Culture (Carpark C3).

Water Sports

Being on the coast, water sports are a natural part of ECP. On windy days kids and adults alike can take sailing lessons at one of the sailing clubs dotted along the park, or try stand-up paddle boarding to enjoy the water while getting a workout! The Sassy Mama team also had fun wakeboarding at the Singapore Wake Park where kids as young as 4 are able to join in the fun.
