MASA by Black Society (黑社会) is a trendy dim sum cafe. As more people turn to food delivery and takeaway, MASA has introduced good value bento dim sum sets.

MASA is like the younger and trendier sibling of the popular Chinese restaurant with the intriguing name of Black Society (黑社会). It has a contemporary cafe look and serves creative dim sum items. We enjoyed our Lunch at MASA by Black Society, Orchard Gateway a while back. More recently we visited MASA for its new Bento Dim Sum Sets.
MASA Bento Dim Sum Sets
Going with the trend of providing convenient bento set meals for delivery and takeaway, MASA has introduced its Bento Dim Sum Sets. The reasonably priced set meal consists of a main dish with a carbohydrate item and includes an appetizer, a vegetable item, dim sum and a drink. Currently, there are nine options.
Each set is priced at $13.80. Currently, there is a discount for self-collection.
Braised Beef Brisket Bento
Masa Bento Dim Sum Set was a complete meal covering all the food groups. There were 2 items of dim sum – a deep fried spring roll and a siew mai. Both dim sum items were delicious. The braised beef brisket was tender and rich in flavour. There was quite a lot to eat – more than enough for a person with an average appetite.
Soy Sauce Chicken Bento
The Soy Sauce Chicken Bento came with braised spicy noodles. The noodles did not travel well and were a little clumpy by the time we reached home. Fortunately, the soy sauce chicken did not suffer from the journey. The chicken was cooked with a delightful blend of sauces and spices. It was aromatic, succulent and very delectable.
Good Value Meal
Bento Dim Sum may not be the best name for the set meal as dim sum is just a small component of the overall meal. However, the other way to look at it is that the other components are all so substantial. The overall portion size of the MASA set meal is generous. With a drink included, the price for the satisfying bento set meal is very reasonable. The bento set is a good value meal that is satisfying.
