PappaRich has been in the news lately because a winding up petition had been filed against the operator of the PapaRich restaurant chain in Malaysia. According to a report in the Straits Times, a spokesman for PappaRich Singapore had said that business at its seven outlets in Singapore would continue as usual. When we went for our PappaRich Takeaway meal recently, everything did indeed appear to be going on as usual.
We are quite fond of PappaRich and had eaten at various PappaRich outlets over the years – see our post 3 TOP dishes at Papparich that we seem to order over and over again. Recently, we had PappaRich Takeaway – ordering Hainanese Chicken Chop ($12.90) and Fried Kway Teow ($11.90).
Hainanese Chicken Chop
The food came in simple plastic containers. The Hainanese Chicken Chop was a large piece of breaded fried chicken on a bed of fries and some vegetables. The tomato based sauce was in a separate small container. Everything looked nice and tidy when we opened up the container at home.
The Hainanese Chicken Chop looked quite good when we plated it ourselves. The deep-fried deboned chicken leg and thigh with a crispy batter crust had tender flavourful meat. The sweet and tangy tomato suace was well balanced and quite delightful. The fries were surprisingly good – not soggy and had both crispness and softness.
Fried Kway Teow
We ate the Fried Kway Teow right out of the container. Afterall, no one really associate char kway teow with fancy plating. We always thought PappaRich’s fried kway teow was a rather good version of the popular street food of Malaysia. The fried kway teow of our recent PappaRich Takeaway meal did not disappoint.
PappaRich Takeaway and Island-wide Delivery
We really hope that PappaRich Singapore would continue to operate as usual. It has a wide range of food on its menu. With PappaRich Takeaway and Island-wide Delivery services now available, we can enjoy their Malaysian street food in a nice restaurant setting or from the comfort of home.
