Tiny SG: Maccha House – Affordable Set Meals

Maccha House has an extensive selection of Maccha-based drinks and desserts and its food menu also offers a variety of Japanese cafe staples. It has reasonably priced sets which makes it a nice place for affordable casual meals.

Maccha House

Maccha House is a specialist tea house in Kyoto. It serves crafted matcha drinks and desserts using matcha from Morihan, a famous tea company in Uji, Kyoto. It now has branches in Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan. We visited Maccha House in Paya Lebar Quarter (PLQ) recently.

One look at the restaurant and you can tell that is is Japanese. The decor with a matcha green theme is soothing and pleasant.

Lunch Set

Currently, there is a lunch set at Maccha House where you order a main course and get a drink free; plus a option to get a dessert with a top up of $5.

We ordered a Ginger Pork with Rice ($10.90) and Chicken Yuzu Ramen ($11.99). Service charge and GST would be added to the bill.

Ginger Pork with Rice

The Ginger Pork with Rice came with soup salad, pickles and a very small portion of dessert. Every item was nice.

The miso soup was of good quality and was delicious. The ginger pork was very tasty. The thinly sliced pork fried with soy sauce and ginger was full of gentle flavours and went very well with plain steamed rice.

Chicken Yuzu Ramen

The Chicken Yuzu Ramen was an interesting dish. Maccha noodles were used of course. The light shoyu broth had a refreshing citrusy tang. The large pieces of chicken were smooth and tender. On the whole it was an enjoyable bowl of ramen.

The lunch sets allowed us to choose either hot tea or iced maccha. We were glad that we had the iced maccha. It was a rich earthy tea with a pleasing scent – cold creamy and very refreshing.

It was a nice way to complete a simple nice lunch. A lunch we thought was very reasonably priced and one that was enjoyable.
