Fullerton Hotel selling staycation vouchers featuring S$150 dining credit and late check-out

We might see staycations resume as early as end July, as hotels start applying for approval to accept staycation guests.

Given that foreign visitor numbers to Singapore will be virtually zero for the foreseeable future, hotels will have to double down on local guests. Cue what will hopefully be a deluge of deals, starting with this one from The Fullerton Hotel.

From now till 31 July 2020, The Fullerton Hotel is selling two different staycation vouchers. These must be used within 12 months from date of purchase. Blackout dates apply, and the maximum occupancy of each room is 2 adults and 2 children (under 12 years old).

Luxury of Time (S$380++)

Fullerton Hotel Heritage Room

The Luxury of Time package costs S$380++ (S$447 all-in) and comes with the following:

  • 1-night accommodation in a Premier Courtyard Room
  • Complimentary upgrade to a Heritage Room
  • Early check-in at 11.00 a.m. and late check-out at 6.00 p.m.
  • Breakfast for two adults and one child (below 12 years old)
  • Complimentary extra bed for one child (below 12 years old)
  • S$150 nett dining credit for redemption at The Fullerton Hotel Singapore’s dining outlets and in-room dining

The reservation books into a Premier Courtyard Room (42 sqm), but comes with a guaranteed upgrade to a Heritage Room (37-71 sqm- interesting how in some cases you might end up with less real estate).

The lowest breakfast-inclusive weekend rate I’ve seen for a Heritage Room is S$410++ (S$483 all-in), so once you factor in the S$150 dining credit with the Luxury of Time package you’re coming out about S$185 ahead.

Do note, however, that the deal may be less appealing if you have a Standard Chartered Visa Infinite or X Card. Cardholders enjoy up to 50% off dining at The Fullerton Hotel already, and since this benefit cannot be stacked with the dining credit, your savings will be smaller.

Although maximum permissible occupancy for the room is 2 adults and 2 children, breakfast is only provided for 2 adults and 1 child- a regular Sophie’s choice.

Luxury Oasis (S$680++)

Fullerton Hotel Palladian Suite

The Luxury Oasis package costs S$680++ (S$800 all-in) and comes with the following:

  • One night accommodation in a Palladian Suite
  • In-Room four course set dinner for two persons (with the choice of Western or Vegetarian menu), valued at S$180++
  • Straits Club privileges which includes daily Chandon breakfast, afternoon tea, evening cocktails and canapes for two adults
  • A pair of Fullerton bears
  • 20 percent off spa treatments at The Fullerton Spa

Palladian Suites are 93 sqm, one-bedroom suites, and come with Bay or River views. All suites come with Straits Club access, which includes benefits like daily breakfast and evening happy hour.

The lowest rate I can find for a Palladian Suite is S$1,000++ (S$1,177), so after adjusting for the four course set dinner you do come out S$588 ahead- assuming of course you value that set dinner at face value.

What card should I use to purchase Fullerton Hotel staycation vouchers?

If you’re interested in buying Fullerton Hotel staycation vouchers, using the following cards will generate the most miles. I do not know whether this transaction will process as a hotel payment, so there is some risk in using the UOB Lady’s Card and DBS Altitude.

Conclusion

The Luxury Oasis voucher is definitely the better value of the two, but it’s still a heck of a lot of money to shell out on a staycation. For those who don’t mind splash out and have always had an eye on The Fullerton Hotel, however, this might be one for you.

Do remember to bookmark the following links- the first is a page by the Singapore Hotels Association that will compile various staycation deals as and when they become available. The second is a page by the Singapore Tourism Board that lists the hotels approved to accept staycation guests.
