Ugreen 9-in-1 USB-C Hub « Blog

Ugreen has just refreshed their 9-in-1 USB-C hub and this newer version is S$0.66 cheaper than the older version.

The new Ugreen 9-in-1 USB-C hub retails for S$54.35 on Lazada and shipping to Singapore is an additional S$2.20.

The nine ports includes:

  • SD Card Reader
  • MicroSD Card Reader
  • 1Gbps RJ45 (LAN) Port
  • 1080p@60Hz VGA Port
  • 4K@30Hz HDMI Port
  • 3x 5Gbps USB 3.0 Port
  • 100W PD Port (For Power)

I got it together with the Ugreen Braided USB-C to Lightning Cable and Ugreen Braided USB-C to USB-C Cable, so shipping is just a one time S$2.20.

The main differences between the new and old versions are the placement of ports, compatibility with iPad Pro/Nintendo Switch, and the ability to keep the USB-C cable when not in use.

Because of the protruding grip on the USB-C end of the cable, it will wobble when the hub is placed on a flat surface.

The grip is there to make it easier to remove the USB-C cable from the hub. I don’t find that needed as the gap gives me enough space for my finger to fit in and dig it out.

Three USB 3.0 Port is in front.

If you are using a USB receiver for a keyboard or mouse, you should not plug the receiver into the hub as the hub will cause interference with your USB receiver.

The SD and MicroSD card reader, 1Gbps LAN port, and HDMI port are at the back.

The left is the VGA port.

There are some caveats to this hub. You can’t use HDMI and VGA port at the same time, so you can’t have dual monitors. The RJ45 Port is not compatible with Linux. It works fine for Mac and Windows.

Overall, this hub is well built with an aluminum enclosure, but it does get hot after a few hours of usage (which is normal).

Space gray color also matches that of the MacBook Pro.

In hindsight, I should have gotten the Ugreen 8-in-1 USB-C Hub (HDMI) instead as I don’t think I will have a use for a VGA port.
